I just got an email forwarded to me from a friend – it’s almost impossible to describe, so I’ll just quote it extensively below:
I’m a Casting Assistant for ABC’s Primetime show, “Wife Swap.” I hope you don’t mind me contacting you. We are currently gearing up for our 4th season and are searching for one-of-a-kind families with amazing personality and strong family philosophies! Specifically I’m looking for families that are passionate about playing their instruments and classical music! Do you bring your passion for the harmonious and refinery into your household? If so, I would love to hear from you.
Please feel free to forward this email on to anyone you think would be interested in taking part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. We are not simply looking for one type of family; all are welcome to contact me if you feel your family would be great on the show. Anyone who refers a family that appears on our show gets a finder’s fee of $1000 as a ‘thank you’ from us.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the show, the premise of “Wife Swap†is simple: two moms from two different families get the opportunity to swap lives for one week to experience what it’s like to live a different lifestyle – and to see what they can teach each other about their own! /“Wife Swapâ€/ airs on Disney owned ABC television on Mondays at 8 pm- the family hour!
Potential families can live anywhere in the U.S. Families must consist of two parents with at least one child, between the ages 7 and 17 living at home. (There may be other children living in the home who are older or younger than the required age, as long as one child is in the required age range.) Families featured on the show receive a $20,000 honorarium to thank them for their time.
My favorite part is “Do you bring your passion for the harmonious and refinery [sic] into your household?”
If you meet the criteria (alas, we don’t have any children) please respond and say that I referred you – at least I could get the $1000 finder’s fee!
One reply on “wife swap?”
I got that email sometime this summer. I forwarded it to a couple of my students’ parents, but nobody wanted to participate and put his/her family through such an ordeal. If any had been accepted, I would’ve donated the blood money to charity. That show is obnoxious!!!
