EMI has released a set of recordings from their huge back catalog devoted to major works (classics, if you will) of the previous century.  There is a lot of great stuff to be found on these discs, including some definitive performances.  Here’s a rundown and information on where to order or download:

I’m glad there’s still a Silver Platters up there – I remember taking a long drive from the north end of Tacoma up to Northgate (I think) Mall to go to Silver Platters for their superior (at the time) selection of the then-new compact discs.

I’m still saddened each time I drive out Mercer to I-5 when I pass by the former site of the Tower Records – I spend a lot of hours (and money) at the classical wing of that store!
