Violinist Rachel Barton Pine, who has appeared twice with the Sunriver Music Festival – making a huge positive impression both times – is the featured artist in this month’s issue of The Strad – a leading stringed instrument magazine.
You can find copies of The Strad at some Borders or Barnes and Noble locations, but the best bets are local violin shops: David Kerr Violins and Geesman Violin Shop are two good places to find current issues.

Didn’t Barton appear with the Oregon Symphony just a couple years ago?
Hi James, so far as I know, she hasn’t made an OSO appearance since DePreist was here as MD – but my recollection certainly could be wrong. I think they’ve been trying to work out dates to get her back, but it hasn’t quite worked out in terms of timing. She was at the Sunriver Festival several years ago – twice – once as a scheduled appearance, and the other to replace the ailing Andre Watts.
