schubert’s “finished” symphony?

Franz Schubert

Tomorrow (Friday) we begin rehearsals on our next Inside the Score program, which centers around Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony.  Of particular interest is the fact that we’re doing a realization of Schubert’s sketches for the third movement scherzo, by British musicologist Brian Newbould.  Some scholars theorize that the entr’acte from his incidental music to the play Rosamunde was intended to be the finale of the symphony – and since we have that music in our folder, it may be that there will be a chance to hear the “Finished” version of this popular Schubert symphony.  Well worth investigating, and a chance to hear a Schubert piece (more or less) that you’ve never, ever heard before!

You can buy tickets here.
