…ride, that is! It was the eight annual Worst Day of the Year Ride in Portland this morning, and when I woke up, it seemed like it might actually live up to its billing. The rain was coming down, it was dark, dreary and disgusting. But by the time I was heading out to ride to the start line, it had stopped raining, brightened up a bit, and looking like a perfect day for a winter ride. By the end of the course it was sunny and almost balmy – perfect!
I should also say that the ride sold out its 3000 spots, making it the second largest ride in the state of Oregon this year! And they raised a whole lot of money for the Community Cycling Center, which among other things, provides low-income families with refurbished bicycles, helmets, and equipment.
