21st century comes to the Oregon Symphony

For years, if you were a patron of the Oregon Symphony, you could surf over to the orchestra’s website and find out when any concert was taking place during the upcoming season.  Not so the orchestra’s members.  We have made do 16th century technology on that front: schedules printed on paper.  Many of us who are on the go and use a variety of the newest mobile gadgets have had to meticulously hand enter the entire rehearsal schedule (plus the rehearsal order for each rehearsal, if it matters in your individual situation).  Now, the indefatigable staff of the OSO has made available  electronic versions of the calendar/schedule for us in formats that are usable on both Windows and Mac computer platforms (yes, including the insidious iPhone).  This is a huge time saver for me, personally, and I’m glad that someone thought that it would be a good and useful thing to do.  Now I just hope that updates will also be provided electronically as well…
