viola fanfare (but hardly common)

Violist Sam Bergman, of the Minnesota Orchestra (and fellow BBB – Bratsche Blogging Brother) made this arrangement of Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man for a Minnesota Orchestra function.  I kind of like it – it might be something we should do here in Oregon…

i think i’ve mentioned the following before, but hey, there’s no such thing as too much viola, right?

Benedict Mason – “Concerto for Viola Section and Orchestra”
(1990 – 25 minutes – Chester Music Pub.)

i’ve never heard it but believe Mason to be just about the most talented composer of the last 25 years. he was Ligeti’s favorite student.
