molto fabuloso!
thanx.
however, based on the musical content of the excerpted passage in question, i would say that whether or not the fellow made the page turn correctly is of negligible difference.
🙂
From the perspective of an orchestral player, the only mistake he made was to look at the conductor. He should have just improved until the end of the piece. Might have improved things along the way, too.
Charles – did you see the discussion at myauditions.com regarding this audition? Quite spirited at times.
Perhaps a bit too spirited, it seems! But hopefully things have been ironed out and we’ll get a phenomenal new timpanist after all is said and done.
Suppose it could have been worse… like knocking the stand forward (seen that one before).
I didn’t know Paul was leaving. That’s an audition I’d like to see and hear. By the way, in my opinion the timpani sounded better, out in the hall, closer to the middle of the stage. The sound isn’t as well integrated from way over there in the corner. Why the change?
Robert – I believe it has to do with the position of the ceiling panels of the shell and how the timpani sound bounces off of them and into some sections of the orchestra (when the timpani are in the location you prefer). I think it’s a work in progress at this point…
