The accolades just keep rolling in for Jennifer Higdon, who long ago shed her designation as merely a female composer and is now one of the most performed living composers in the world today. Today she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Music for her Violin Concerto (written for the violinist Hilary Hahn). Here’s a brief story on the win from the Baltimore Sun.

i look forward to hearing some of higdon’s music and hope that it will upgrade the low esteem i hold for the pulitizer club’s usual choices.
We’re doing her Percussion Concerto w/ Colin Currie next season, should be great! I do wish that Hilary Hahn were playing the Violin Concerto on her concert, but oh well.
