Yes, if my tenure with the Oregon Symphony were a physical person, they would be able to buy alcohol this year. Twenty-one years. Sheesh.
The season, as usual, begins with our annual waterfront concert extravaganza on Thursday, September 3rd at 7:00 pm. The concert will also be simulcast on Allclassical FM (89.9), for the first time in the orchestra’s history! So, even if you can’t make it down to the park, or even if you don’t live in Portland, or the USofA – you can listen over the airwaves or via streaming over the web (I think – it may be that that triggers some sort of union agreement clause that a live terrestrial broadcast would not). The whole shebang starts at 1:00pm, with steel drum choirs, the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Portland Taiko, the Portland Youth Philharmonic, and more. It’s not to be missed, and you’ll be with tens of thousands of fellow classical music lovers.
