The Oregon Symphony season is underway, and unusually, it started with a recording. This past Friday we did a live recording of Gabriel Kahane’s ’emergency shelter intake form’ (which the OSO premiered last spring), which should be spectacular. I’m so proud of my orchestra for taking on this project. No word on when the recording will be release, or on which label. Stay tuned.
Saturday night we gave our now annual concert at the Oregon Zoo. Lots of people, lots of good music, and this year it wasn’t 1000 degrees on stage! It was actually a bit chilly, which goes to show, be careful what you wish for. I still miss our free Waterfront Park concert, which was killed by city budget cuts. If you want it back, send a note to the mayor – maybe it’ll come back.

Y’all sounded terrific Friday night. I enjoyed Gabriel Kahane’s piece even more the second time!
Thanks! I’m so looking forward to this recording coming out, and hope that it earns many well-deserved accolades!
Also looking forward to the recording. Fingers crossed!
