In 1995 (I think this was the year) at Tanglewood Music Center we got to have a couple reading sessions with Bernard Haitink when he was conducting the BSO that week. This was Mahler 1, we also did Brahms 2. I remember it being pretty cool. I count myself as very lucky that I got to even share the stage with this man, one of the greatest conductors of modern times. Rest in peace, maestro. I’m in the very back of the viola section – right near the double doors.
