Bandcamp is a fantastic platform where many artists sell their music online. This Friday, March 20th, from midnight to midnight, they are waiving the cut that they take from album sales and downloads – that means the artists get every dollar you spend! This will make a huge difference in the lives of artists who are struggling right now. As Ethan Diamond, the CEO of Bandcamp says “For many artists, a single day of boosted sales can mean the difference between being able to pay rent or not.”
I have purchased music from Bandcamp artists in the past – there is a wide range of all musical styles, including classical. Below is a list of artists that I like, and/or local artists with work available through the platform. If you’re able, buy a few albums or tracks tomorrow. We’re all in this together!
- Wendy Richman, violist
- Aizuri Quartet
- Gabriel Kahane, composer, singer, songwriter
- Hideki Yamaya, lutenist
- Third Angle New Music
- Portland Cello Project
- Arthur Breuer, composer
- XX Digitus Piano Duo
- Nelly Kovalev, violin
- Mont Chris Hubbard, pianist
