It’s here. Opening weekend of the Oregon Symphony’s 2021-2022 season. Many of us had doubts that we’d even come to this place, with the uncertainties of the pandemic and all its attendant difficulties of fundraising, selling tickets, and getting audience members to come to a much-changed downtown core. But, it’s here.
I’ll most likely have a shot at writing about the experience after the final performance on Monday evening. But just to put a point on it, the rehearsals have been quite something. With our new music director David Danzmayr, a new acoustic in the hall and on stage via the Constellation sound system, and the remarkable suitability of performing Mahler’s ‘Ressurection’ Symphony at this point in history all will combine to make this a concert that will live in my memory for a long time.
Tickets are available for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. If going to a concert hall still isn’t your jam, this concert will be streamed live by the Oregon Symphony – tickets are available for both live performances and streaming passes.
