holiday mix

It’s Thanksgiving weekend, which for most orchestras and ballet companies marks the beginning of the onslaught of holiday programming. For the Oregon Symphony, that meant the Von Trapp family singers (the great grandchildren of the captain and Maria Von Trapp) at the Schnitz last night. We head down to Salem for a matinee performance this afternoon (Sunday). This coming weekend marks a return to non-holiday programming, with the celebrated violinist Pinchas Zukerman returning both as conductor and soloist for a varied program of Tchaikovsky, Haydn, Rossini and Schumann. Coming next (Dec. 9-11) is the return of Gospel Christmas, followed (Dec. 16) by the Canadian Tenors Christmas program, Mannheim Steamroller (Dec. 17), a Holiday Kids program (Dec. 18) and the general Yuletide concert entitled Comfort & Joy (Dec. 22). Then the holiday break begins *phew*!
