If you want to see how a $44,648* orchestra compares to a $143,260* orchestra, now’s your chance! Both the Oregon Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic have archived streaming broadcasts available online right now that both feature Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. Not to take anything away from the LAPhil, but I happen to think that Oregon can stand pretty proud on its account of the Rite. Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
- Oregon Symphony, Carlos Kalmar, cond. – click on link, the when player appears, click on “Audio Archive” button, then look at the bottom of the list for “Oregon Symphony” and click on that link.
- Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel, cond. – much simpler process than above, maybe allclassical.org could make standalone pages for symphony broadcasts?
